(book)SHELF-AWARENESS
Born out of the isolation of lockdowns, our little book club, (book)Shelf-Awareness hopes to piece together a mosaic of humanity. We delve into questions of identity, privilege, and positionality, recognizing how these shape our understanding of the texts we consume and the world we inhabit. Each book we explore is a mirror, allowing us to reflect on our experiences, challenge our assumptions, and inviting us to examine our place in the world. In creating a rich, immersive experience that goes beyond traditional reading, and fostering deep personal insights, our book club introduces reflective practices, including journaling prompts, role-playing, and creative-expressive means of self-expression. We typically read one book every month - take a look at the books we've read and engaged with between 2020 and 2021!

I believe in making this transformative experience accessible to all. Our book club operates on a pay-as-you-can model, with all proceeds funding therapy sessions for clients who are currently unable to access care due to our full concession slots.

In working to maintain ethical boundaries, this group is not open to present or former clients. To ensure an intimate and engaging experience, the book club is limited to 12 participants. Bring your curiosity, your experiences, and your love for meaningful and reflective conversation!
